About The Event
Meet Donald Shakes,
Donald is a Yoga Teacher Trainer who has taught for over 15 years. He began his yogic journey with chair yoga while recovering from an injury. Chair Yoga is a part of his 200-hour yoga teacher training school curriculum, and he is passionate about making yoga accessible and beneficial for everyone.
Why Chair Yoga:
Chair yoga adapts traditional yoga poses while sitting on a chair. The poses are modified to suit all body types, so you don't have to worry about getting up and down from the floor. This makes it an excellent option for people with varying mobility, strength, or fitness levels.
If you're struggling with age, weight, balance, mobility, or flexibility, chair yoga is an excellent way to improve your overall well-being. It's especially beneficial for those recovering from an injury with a disability, stroke, cancer, osteoporosis, scoliosis, arthritis, Parkinson's, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, or diabetes. Plus, it's wheelchair accessible.
Chair yoga can also be applied in work environments where sitting for long periods is common. It provides an opportunity to work on strength, flexibility, mental clarity, and peace of mind. You'll learn breathing and meditation techniques to help you feel more relaxed and calm throughout the day.
Why Yoga Nidra:
Yoga Nidra is a powerful tool in the field of yoga. It is a valuable practice that we should incorporate into our daily lives, as it brings incredible calmness, relaxation, stillness, and clarity, essential for healing and growth. "Yoga Nidra" means "yogic sleep," which is sleep with a hint of awareness. It is a methodical technique of inducing complete physical, mental, and emotional relaxation in the practitioner.Â
This mindful relaxation holds miraculous power for healing, rejuvenation, and experiencing deeper integration and oneness. The level of peace that Yoga Nidra presents to us differs from other forms of relaxation. The relaxation induced through Yoga Nidra is more vibrant, alive, soothing, peaceful, and graceful. It teaches us how to move into deep peace of the body, mind, and heart while staying more conscious and alert.
This training meets the YACEP® Course criteria with 50 hours towards Continuing Education Requirements.Â
