About the Course
Yin yoga is a practice of patience and stillness which offers us the opportunity to work deeply into the connective tissues and energy lines of the body while bringing awareness to the fluctuations of the mind. By holding the postures for long periods of time, we experience the effects of slow and mindful movement. These long holds give us a chance to slow down and listen to our body’s own natural intelligence.
Yin Yoga is rooted in the ancient systems of Hatha Yoga and merged with the Traditional Chinese Medicine system of Meridian lines, this synergy allows the practitioner to draw upon the healing properties of both a physical and an energetic practice.
In this training you will gain a comprehensive and well-rounded understanding of the energetic body and its pathways, and how these energy lines influence our tissues, organs, mental and emotional states. To support the transformational qualities of the Yin practice we will focus on Meditation techniques, Pranayama, and Yoga Nidra, as well as skillful sequencing, alignment and modifications to suit different body types and injuries. You will have the simple techniques and effective tools to build on your teaching and practice.
Join Donald Shakes, over two weekends in Forster, with many years of experience and knowledge to share and a passion to teach, you will learn the fundamentals and principles of Yin through hands on practice and teaching.
We welcome people from all backgrounds to attend this training. Ideal for practicing Yoga teachers looking for more experience and/or a new facet of the yoga practice to offer their students. It is suitable for passionate students wanting to deepen their own practice and knowledge.

Atha is this kind of call of action for us to wake up now. It can be a mantra for daily living that moves off the mat and into our lives, bringing us back to what’s happening now.
This Yoga Teacher Training aims to provide a detailed foundation to Yoga, taking from the ancient teachings of Hatha, Ayurveda, Tantra, and Raja Yoga, and adapting it to suit our modern lives. Whether you choose to teach, or not, the course will not only deepen your practice and knowledge of yogic life but allow for a journey to further understanding of yourself.
Our highest intention is to offer a yoga teacher training program that allows our students to reach their fullest potential, in both the study and practice of yoga and Self.
Prerequisites & Certification:
This training is open to yoga teachers who have completed any 200-hour yoga teacher training and who wish to begin teaching Yin Yoga. Regular practitioners of Yin Yoga who wish to deepen their practice and knowledge of yin are also welcome.
You will receive a certificate at the end of the course for 50 contact hours of Yin Yoga Teacher Training. This is an Internationally recognised accreditation program with Yoga Alliance International. Certified Yoga Teachers will be qualified to teach Yin Yoga. Other health and fitness professionals may be eligible to apply for Continuing Education accreditation through their Registered Association.
This course is certified with Yoga Alliance International and meets the YACEP® Course criteria with 50 hours towards Continuing Education (CE) Requirements (CEC). Every three years, Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®s) must complete 30 hours of Continuing Education training, 10 of which need to be Contact Hours in the presence of a qualified Continuing Education Provider.

Yoga Teaching Methodology
Student Practicum Teaching
At the end of training, participants will have learned skills to:
· Plan and write a Yin class sequence
· Teach a 60-90 minute Yin Yoga class
· Teach a basic Pranayama class
· Teach a basic Meditation class
· Describe one model for forming a home meditation group
· Teach a Restorative Yoga class
· Accommodate Prenatal modifications into their class
· Use language appropriate for a Yin Yoga and Meditation class
